This fine big band ballad from the pen of Neal Hefti was featured on the 1958 album "Basie plays Hefti". It is a Trumpet feature, originally written for Snooky Young. We have made a couple of adaptations to the original chart. The Trumpet solo is now written on the 3rd Trumpet part, to give your player a break, leaving the 1st Trumpet to take the high notes. The Trumpet solo is written out "as played". We have also added an optional (3rd) Trombone part, to bring the section up to four voices. Whilst the Trombone ranges are very moderate (lead to G), the Trumpet ranges are more demanding. Lead to high G, 4th to C, with the 2nd optional to high F. There are no sax doubles.
